January

Here are some pics of our little girls getting bigger!

I taught Abbey the term "Cuppa."  So every couple of days she'll say, "Mommy, can we have a cuppa together?"

Here's a note on the polka-dot shirt.  It is extremely soft.  Abbey wants to wear it pretty much every day.  If she sees it hanging in her closet, that's her choice for the day.  I like being comfortable, too... so I let her wear it!  That is why it is in a lot of these pictures.

Amelia's socks are kicked off almost as soon as I put them on her feet.
 Happy with Daddy.

I tried to paint a butterfly on Abbey's face.  I say "tried," because it's not easy to paint a butterfly on a 2-year old's face when she doesn't like to sit still for long.  She also painted my face.
If early indications carry through, Abbey will be one of those girls that likes to talk on the phone.  She pretends quite a bit, and also does a pretty good job when it's time to talk to grandparents.  She usually wants to say "hi," even if she doesn't know who I am talking to!
Here she is giving a very detailed explanation about who she was talking with, and what was said during the conversation:

My brother came to visit and brought his little boy S.  We would have loved to have had the rest of their family come, but it was fun having S come play for the day!  Abbey liked having a play partner for the day.  Even if he crawled over her.

Hopefully Abbey's willingness to share her toys and play with younger kids extends to her little sister, as well.

Amelia is doing awesome at rolling over.  She does really well going from her back to her tummy, but doesn't particularly enjoy being there.  She hasn't quite mastered getting back around, which presents a bit of a conundrum for her.
 She loves to smile!

October - Part 1

Thought I would divide October into 2 parts...
Abbey is giving Amelia a gift that some friends sent.  She is a very good big sister.  She frequently says, "I like having a little sister."  So sweet.

Grandma and Grandpa (or Papa) came... Grandpa and Abbey like to do "Walk around the housey..."

Amelia's first snow... October 8.

I think this is the first snowman Abbey "helped" build:

Making sure Amelia has enough toys for our errands:

She loves her bouncer:

Going to the pumpkin patch...

Abbey loved driving the farming equipment... part of that comes from her Grandpa having tractors and such!

Abbey doesn't really like having her face painted, but she does like having her arm painted.

September

I love what one of my friends titled a photo album on Facebook... "Yep, I'm one of those parents."  In the 30 days of the month of September I took almost 300 pictures of my 2 little girls.  That's a lot of pictures.  I'm sure they will be minimally interesting to most of you, but what can I say?  I guess I'm one of those parents.  :)

My mom got some great photos of the first time Abbey held Amelia:

Abbey gave Grammy a shirt "cheers" because the color was the same.

This is our new favorite game called "Friends That Fly" (Mo Willems book).  I'm pretty sure flinging a 2-year old up into the air probably isn't on the doctor-recommended list of activities 5 days postpartum.

Love this one:

Daddy and his girls...
Raspberry fingers...
Amelia is having a stare-down with the cookie:

We LOVE the Chariot.  I think it's my favorite kid-purchase.  Hopefully I will someday be at a good enough fitness level to ride my bike up hills at an elevation of about 6200 feet.  For now it's a great double stroller.
Amelia's first bath.
Abbey loves helping out.  She is so sweet to "Baby Melya. "

Playtime...
